Daniel Sonnex Caught - New Cross Murders
July 10, 2008
Police investigating the brutal murders of two French students tonight arrested a ‘dangerous’ suspect hours after issuing an urgent appeal for information about his location.
The Met issued a picture of 23-year-old Daniel Sonnex, also known as Dano, from south London following the deaths of Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez.

Police had said they regard him as dangerous and warned members of the public not to approach him directly but to ring 999.
The arrest came a few hours after an unemployed man was remanded in custody until October after being charged with the killings.
Nigel Farmer, 33, appeared at Greenwich Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of murder as well as arson and attempting to pervert the cause of justice.

Mr Ferez and Mr Bonomo were tortured and stabbed more than 200 times before their bodies were badly burnt in a fire started in a flat in New Cross.

Mr Farmer will remain in custody until October 16 when he will appear at the Old Bailey.
During the brief hearing, Mr Farmer spoke only to confirm his name and age and that he had no fixed address.
Wearing a white sweatshirt and with a shaven head, he stood in the dock flanked by two security guards.
Officers have said that they do not know how many people may have taken part in the savage murders of the two 23-year-old biochemistry students who were found after an explosion at a rented bedsit on June 29.
Investigators found they had been bound, gagged and tortured before petrol or a similar inflammable liquid was splashed on and around their bodies.
